GOD HAS MADE HIS WONDERS TO BE REMEMBERED
PSALM 111:4

Make a thanksgiving list of things God has done from last Thanksgiving to this Thanksgiving. Try to think of all the things that have changed or been added since last year. (Growth in you or your dear ones, people who have come to Christ, new jobs, new homes, new babies, new endeavors, new friends, victory in an area of temptation) What is your biggest answer to prayer this year? Don’t forget to actually thank Him!

Oh that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.

Now thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices,

Being thankful in the presence of God

A THANKSGIVING PROJECT
Psalm 107

In his commentary on the Psalms Dr. Boice states that this is the actual Psalm the Pilgrims read on the first Thanksgiving. When reading Psalm 107, which is a review of the history of the children of Israel, it is not hard to understand why they chose this one to read. They had left religious persecution in Europe, gone through an arduous sea voyage in a smaller ship than many of us imagine and then suffered the trials of the first winter in a new land. Surely, they must have identified with the Israelites. In our trials and tribulations we can also have an identity with both groups of people. When thinking about the trials of the Israelites can you remember a time when you possibly felt the same way that they must have?

There are two sentences that are repeated several times throughout this Psalm. Read through it looking for the two.

Describe your experience of “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble”

Describe the situation and how you felt.

What did He do in the midst of your trouble?

We do so much enjoy our children remembering certain events from their childhood and sharing them with us. It is such a joy! I believe that God must enjoy us detailing the events of our past when He came through for us.

“Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love” is the sentence that most describes a day of Thanksgiving. Have you thanked Him in detail for His deliverance?

A Psalm of Thanksgiving to the Eternal King

You are my Eternal King

In all our sorrows You have comforted us.

In all our fears You have calmed us.

In all our sickness You have healed us.

In all our emptiness You have filled us.

In all our sin You have forgiven us.

In all our loneliness You have met us.

In all our wanderings You have shepherded us.

In all our asking You have answered us.

In all our failings You have enabled us.

In all our floundering You have given meaning.

In all our questions You have answered us.

In all our sadness You are still our song.

In all our dark places You are our light.

In all our confusion You are our direction.

In all our hunger You are our filling.

In all our insecurities You are our Lover.

In all our unfaithfulness You remain faithful.

Thank you God for showing me that You can change anything. Even the most difficult things bow to Your control. All the powers of creation are in Your hand and You use them for Your purposes and my good and the good of our family. I will praise You forever! You have reached down and come to my aid in ways too numerous to count - so many that I have often forgotten to thank You! I thank you again now with my whole heart!
